How To Find Us

Social Phobia, social anxiety, fear of social occasions can all cause misery for the sufferer.  Scopophobia, to give it it’s technical name, results in the sufferer having fears of rejection or of being judged and can often result in severe symptoms of embarrassment or feelings of humiliation.

A recent report in the U.S. concluded that up to 13% of the adult population suffer from social anxiety. The D.S.M. IV (the mental health 'bible') lists social anxiety as: "A marked and persistent fear of one or more social or performance situations in which the person is exposed to unfamiliar people or to possible scrutiny by others. The individual fears that he/she will act in a way that will be humiliating or embarrassing". What does it feel like?

For the social phobic, enjoyable (for the rest of us) situations such as dinner parties, shopping, meeting people or eating out can become a real nightmare. Symptoms often include intense feelings of a fear of rejection, panic attacks, feelings of inferiority and worrying about how others 'see' you. Blushing, feeling 'silly', lack of confidence, stuttering or lack of eye contact are also common in social anxiety.

People suffering from social anxiety often find it difficult to make phone calls or they worry for days about a forthcoming event, even an occasion that should be enjoyable. There is often a persistent fear of meeting people, and social phobics usually let others dominate conversations so that their thoughts or opinions are not ridiculed. Physical sensations can include heart pounding, hot flushes, numbness or sweating, feeling dizzy, light headed, or out of control. As with all phobias or anxiety any current stress will increase those feelings and symptoms.

How do I get rid of my social phobia?

Social phobia always starts in childhood and can often get worse as the sufferer gets older.
Analytical therapy (hypno-analysis) is extremely effective at finding the cause of the problem.  Using hypnosis and hypnoanalysis we can find the unconscious cause(s) of all this anxiety and release any negative bottled-up emotions...and when the emotions are released, the symptoms dissolve...the result of which is a happier, much more confident and outgoing person.

So if you want to be happier, much more confident and live your life to the full then call us today at the Hampshire Hypnotherapy Centre where James and Sue are helping people just like you every day in Southampton, Fareham, Portsmouth Chichester, Warsash, Eastleigh an
d Bishops Waltham.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED:

How many sessions does it take?

Most people require from 6 to 12 sessions (for most clients the average is 8 sessions)

How much does the session cost?
The cost for the Hypno-analysis is £60 per session.

How long is the session?
Hypno-analysis sessions last approx fifty minutes and should be at weekly intervals.

Where can I have the sessions?
We have practices in Fareham, Southampton & Winchester.

Can I be seen at a weekend?
Our practices are open on a Saturday morning. (Places are limited so please call early to book one of these slots)

Will I remember the session?
You will be able to remember everything that’s said, your not asleep in hypnosis and you don’t lose control. Hypnosis is just a nice comfortable state of relaxation, a state you will have experienced many times in your life already…probably without even realising it.

Why can’t you cure my phobia in just one session, like I’ve seen on TV?
Many people have had phobias and anxieties for many years; something that has affected someone for many years can’t be easily changed for good in just one session. Hypno-analysis is the safest, natural most effective therapy on the planet.

Will the sessions be recorded?
Confidentiality is our utmost concern, we never record sessions. What is said in our consulting room says in our consulting room.

Why would a bottled up emotion from my childhood be causing me a problem in my adult life?
As a child we all bottle up experiences. This bottled up emotion can cause us a variety of symptoms in adult life (click here to see our list of problems treated).

Can I discuss the sessions with anyone?
It is essential that anyone going through Hypno-analysis doesn’t discuss what comes up in the sessions with anyone; this can cause intellectualisation and can slow, or indeed halt the progress altogether. At the end of analysis you could write a book about your sessions, most people prefer not to as they are enjoying their life to the full!

How soon can I be seen?
We make every effort to see you within a week, however our diaries fill up very quickly, so please call today to avoid disappointment.

If you have any more questions about our Hypno-analysis sessions then please don’t hesitate to contact us. In the meantime please read the information below where some of your other questions may be answered.
